The Swiss-based brand Luminox has finally updated its Luminox Original Navy SEALs 3000 watch replica range of military-inspired timekeepers with a totally black model. Presented in a black carbon-reinforced polycarbonate body, the new Luminox Original Navy SEALs 3000 Blackout (Ref. A.3001.BO) has its dial, as well all inscriptions repainted either black or very dark grey. Although the watch now comes in different color scheme, the hardware seems to be the same.
Its nighttime legibility (the main feature of any “tactical” watch) remains unharmed, though, thanks to 15 LLT micro-tubes that are filled with light-emitting gas.
The impressive slimness of the case comes courtesy of the Swiss made Ronda 515 HH6quartz movement that gives you the standard three-hand functionality as well as a simple calendar display, which is placed at 3 hours. The Swiss brand promises that its standard battery is good for as long as 50 months, which is nice, since nobody likes to visit service centers too often.
According to official specs, the mens Luminox copy watch comes in a slightly oversized case, which is formed from carbon-reinforced polycarbonate and is 43 millimeters in diameter and less than 11 millimeters high.
Compared to the usual Superluminova paint, the tubes not only glow brighter thus making the watch more legible in twilight, but also emit light a lot longer: if standard lume goes too dark to see after some five or six hours in darkness, the tritium tubes are good for as long as 25 years. And you don’t really have to worry about the radioactivity, since tritium beta radiation doesn’t possess enough energy even to penetrate the glass walls of the tubes.
As I have already noted, the watch features Luminox’s trademark LLT technology that basically means that it is equipped with 16 (twelve for hour markers, three more for hands and a single tube in the rotating bezel at “00” point) micro-tubes that are filled with tritium gas.
Designed with professionals in mind, the Luminox Original Navy SEAL 3000 Blackout (Ref. A.3001.BO) features a pretty much impressive water resistance rating, which makes the cool fake Luminox watch usable for basic diving and snorkeling.
