The Cool and Masculine Bremont Supermarine S2000 Replica Watch

Angus Davies provides an in-depth review of the Swiss Made replica Bremont Supermarine S2000, a watch replica with an impressive water resistance of 2000 metres, a sturdy case and highly legible dial. This particular diver’s watch replica ensnared my heart with its testosterone-rich styling and hewn from granite robustness. A detailed review was on the agenda within mere moments of handling its case, blessed with chiseled good looks.

Inevitably the first watches they created were pilot’s watches.Bremont was founded in 2002 by Nick and Giles English, two charismatic brothers who share a passion for flying.

The company has enjoyed significant growth since inception and whilst it has continued to draw on inspiration from the aeronautical world, it has also created Bremont Supermarine S2000 copy watches with a maritime link, such as the stunning Victory watch.

Now, the company is looking for a suitable location in New York, capitalising on the strong demand for it’s watches in North America. Thereafter, another boutique opened in London, the Royal Exchange, this time in the City. The rate of business expansion has been impressive with the company opening its first Bremont Boutique in London’s prestigious Mayfair in 2012. A second store opened in Hong Kong.

It is run by two charming, marketing-savvy, figure-heads and produces watches which are robust, simple to interpret and accurate, denoted by their chronometer status. There is a logical reason for Bremont’s success. Moreover, Bremont has built a loyal following delivering high quality products at remarkably accessible prices.

The Supermarine 2000, is a chronometer with, as the nomenclature implies, an impressive water resistance of 2000 metres.

The dial

The metal dial is black, providing a wonderful contrast with the hands, hour markings and other elements of the display composition.

The hour and minute hands are dominated with large expanses of white Superluminova making them eminently legible. The hour markers again use significant scale and bright white luminous fill to converse with the wearer with refreshingly succinct clarity. Quite simply, a dial display does not get much easier to read than the one presented on the Supermarine 2000.

Ease of read off is once again superb. The central area of the dial is framed with a minute track which interfaces with the red circular marker adorning the central sweeps second hand. The red tip of the hand reaches outwards, kissing the Arabic numerals and scale depicted on the inner flange.

Bremont has cleverly delivered much dial detail but without overburdening the wearer with superfluous information or decoration which could impair ease of interpretation. Furthermore, the resultant mien is devilishly handsome.

Two apertures feature at 3 o’clock, the larger of the two reveals the day, whilst the more diminutive neighbour imparts the date.

The case

Measuring 45 mm in diameter, the stainless steel case is substantial, with bold, rugged lines that I adore. Alas, with some large watches, annoying red marks form on the arm where the crown makes its presence known. However, with the Supermarine 2000, there is no need to worry. There is no chafing or gouging of the arm resulting from wearing this Bremont. The crown is positioned out of harms way at 2 o’clock and the adjacent crown guard does not impede free movement of the wrist.

The bezel is uni-directional, a pre-requisite for a professional diver’s watch.

The case back is solid, typical of a traditional diver’s watch replica and features a depiction of a seaplane presented in relief. The movement is shrouded in an anti-magnetic Faraday cage in order to protect the inner micromechanics.

The movement

The self-winding calibre 13 1/4” BE-36AE movement is hidden from view, hence I could not appraise its form on this occasion. However, the movement is identical to the calibre used in the Bremont U-2 Blue which I reviewed a few months ago.

The watch replica is a chronometer and is supplied with C.O.S.C certification.

Bremont’s patented anti-shock mount helps protect the movement and reaffirms my perception of the Supermarine’s toughness.

The calibre 13 1/4” BE-36AE has a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), contains 25 jewels and has a power reserve of 38 hours.

Closing remarks

I respect the Supermarine 2000 for its toughness which is readily palpable with each fondle of its sturdy case. Moreover, its timekeeping credentials are a given, based on the accompanying C.O.S.C certification.

The single most notable aspect for me, is the dial display. It is sympathetic to my age-related myopia, delivering time in an easy to read, simple to digest format. Ultimately, it is this unhindered, clear interaction with the wearer which distinguishes the top quality fake Bremont Supermarine 2000 watch from lesser watches and makes it very desirable.
